Only 1 out of 10 kittens born

will be adopted... the remaining 9 will be euthanized.

Only 1 out of every 12 cats born will ever have a permanent home.

800 cats and dogs are euthanized every hour.

For every baby born, 45 kittens and puppies are born.

In order for every cat and dog to have a home, every human being in America would have to own 25.

The average life span of a cat is 13 years.  The average time a person keeps a cat is 3 years.

The best way you can help homeless cats and kittens is by fixing your own pet.

Kittens need to be spayed by the time they are 6 months old or earlier.

Spaying a kitten before she is old enough to go into heat is healthier for her and will avoid many potential health problems.

Neutering a male kitten early will help prevent him for ever starting to spray.

If you wait until a male kitten starts to spray before neutering him, chances are he will not stop spraying even after he does get neutered.

As long as even one kitten is being killed simply because there are not enough homes, then allowing even one to be born is a tragedy.

"Dumpsters Are For Trash, Not Treasures"

Dumpster Cats is an all volunteer group dedicated to helping homeless kittens and cats.  Collectively, we have helped rescue and find homes for over 1,200 kittens and cats and have spayed and neutered over 1,500 cats.

OUR MISSION...

is to save the lives of cats and kittens by preventing more from being born.  The more kittens that are prevented, the more will live.

March 13, 2007-- Sheila Schroeder met with students at Ursuline Academy for an after school family club meeting to share facts about the importance of spay/neuter in controlling pet over-population.  The students donated 3 large bags of towels that will be used in the spay/neuter van.  Several of the girls will be working on some craft projects to be donated to Dumpster Cats for fundraising.
